To Bob or Not to Bob

To bob or not to bob, that is the question. I think I've decided on the latter....at least for now. You see, I've spent the past year growing out my hair from a bob (then pixie) phase so that it would be long again in time for graduation. Also, short hair requires more maintenance/styling time in the mornings, given that my hair is naturally wavy/curly and doesn't always cooperate.  The rumors are true--you will never truly appreciate the convenience of a ponytail until you go short...

That said, it's very tempting to pull a Karlie and go for the bob again--especially as the weather warms up.

What do you guys think? Do you prefer short hair or long hair?

Rings

(*note: Madwell, where's your dog ring?)

A couple of weeks ago, I stopped by the Kate Spade store on my way from class/lab. I had been eyeing their scallop ring for a couple of months, but decided to refrain from purchasing it until I had some accomplishments to celebrate (which I hope to share with you soon!). This said, I was a little (cough--super--) disappointed when I discovered that they were no longer carrying it. Fortunately, I've found some rings that I would be equally happy to wear :)

Which one (if any) is your favorite?

Happy weekend! And for those of you with final exams around the corner--good luck!

Naughty Alice

This winter I've been drawn to clean, soft, powdery scents.  Case in point, I have a powder fabric softener that smells like a cross between lavender and baby powder and I've been shaking more than enough into every load of laundry just so that my clothes maintain the smell.  Naturally, this obsession has carried into the perfume arena. After my beloved Hello Kitty perfume evaporated on a recent flight (RIP), I bought Vivienne Westwood's Naughty Alice perfume as my new winter scent.  The name is a bit misleading.  The dry down is light, powdery-vanilla-ish (with a hint of floral) and well, innocent (but perhaps in a naughty way?). Perfect as an everyday winter scent or for those who don't want an obvious perfume. The bottle itself is intended to look like the potion from Alice and Wonderland and it comes with a charming gold bracelet with a tiffany blue charm.  There's so much to love.  Have any of you tried a Vivienne Westwood fragrance? What's your favorite "winter" scent?

Happy Weekend!

Sleep in, have breakfast in bed, and have a wonderful weekend. I'll be enjoying warm California sunshine, but for those of you getting snow...Please make a snowman on my behalf :)

Winter White

I tend to gravitate toward bright colors, but lately I've been drawn toward the crispness of white.  I love that it goes with everything and just has an overall clean and fresh appearance (albeit it is harder to keep clean!).  Apparently I'm not alone--NYFW runways were filled with winter white as well. Have any of you been embracing the trend?

Even my nail polish of choice has been white!

Macarons and Valentine's Day Recap

A sweet shop opened up on campus earlier this year and I've been addicted to macarons ever since (pistachio is my favorite).  The manager (who I've grown quite close to) actually tells me, "See you tomorrow!" as I leave.  Considering the fact that I'm our school's former nutrition intern, this is slightly embarrassing haha.  The only two things that give me peace of mind is that 1) I can use meal plan dollars here (read: I don't have to spend real money) and 2) the macarons are small (read: I can justify buying several at a time).  Perhaps if I frame this print on my wall (my friend brought it back for me from LadurĂ©e Paris), I will feel like my craving is already satisfied? We'll see.

Also, speaking of sweets....My boyfriend and I had a nice dinner at a coffe house on campus last Thursday then headed back to the dorm.  Shortly after, an a capella group arrived right outside of my door (with a rose) to sing The Beatles' "Till There Was You".  Turns out, Bill had hired them to serenade me!  He then presented me with a box of chocolate-covered strawberries and I presented him with Edward Monton's book called Love (Note: I love Edward Monton's short stories!).  All in all, it was a short and [super] sweet Valentine's evening. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day/weekend with loved ones (or by yourself!) too :)

And We're Back...

Hello world!  It feels like eons since I last posted (and I suppose months are equivalent to eons in the blog world).  I know, I know...posting regularly was a fail toward the end of 2012 >.<  Please forgive me. I strayed from TCP to dedicate my energy to schoolwork, grad school applications, job applications, etc. (did I mention I'm a senior? Scary...).  However, I realized that I missed sharing things through my blog.  Sure, it takes time but I genuinely enjoy it. Senior year isn't going to slow down anytime soon, but I have made the decision to re-enter the blogging world with a newfound energy and outlook (starting with the recent layout makeover).  I've realized that it doesn't have to be all that stressful. I want to make the most of "my" year (2013!) and I look forward to posting again--starting on Monday. Product reviews, tutorials, recipes, and cravings will follow shortly.
