In My Bag...

As I head back to school (good bye my dear Socal), most things are tucked away in boxes and suitcases, but there are a few things I like to have with me during the seven hour car ride to Northern California. Mainly things that ensure that I arrive on campus looking like I haven’t been sleeping in a car all day....because that's exactly what I intend to do (at least for part of the ride)!

Sunglasses: it's a sunny drive through a sunny sate.

Lotion: This is my absolute favorite body moisturizer. It’s light and non-greasy, but still hydrating with ingredients like aloe vera, evening primrose, and sweet almond oil.  Oh and it has a light vanilla scent. Mmm...

Lip balm & Lipstick: I don’t wear a lot of makeup on this journey because well, I’m asleep half the time, but when I finally arrive on campus, I want to look awake and fresh-faced.  This Lancome lipstick is a favorite.

Eyelash Curler: See above reason

Perfume: My bag is big enough to fit this small bottle of Hello Kitty perfume. It’s warm (with notes of vanilla, magnolia blossom, sorbet, and mandarin) and perfect for the evening, which is usually my arrival time. 

Book: Truth be told, reading in the car makes me a little dizzy but if there’s enough daylight I like a little reading to keep me occupied.  I'm enjoying this light-hearted Sophie Kinsella book.

Phone/music: I like to take this time to talk to my parents and bond before heading off for another year at school.  However, when I'm not talking, I like to listen to some upbeat music.

Pillow: Not exactly "in my bag", but pillows are so nice to have during long car rides. Also, confession...I don't actually own the pillow pictured but I saw it on NotetoSelf and the splatter print was just too cool.

Water bottle: Necessary.

Oh, and something (or rather, someone) who I wish I could take in my tote?

My beloved miniature Chihuahua, Shijo, of course!
